    Description

    Electricity Inquiry Lab #1: Voltage Across Batteries in Series & Parallel

    • Schematic diagrams guide students in connecting batteries in series and parallel. Students then attach a voltmeter to measure the voltage drop. Space to record answers is provided.

    Additional equipment (not included) required for the successful completion of this lab:

    • Batteries – ideally six of the same voltage type (i.e. six 1.5V D Cell batteries);
    • Battery holders or enough wires to connect the six batteries in series and in parallel;
    • Voltmeter or Multimeter – just one, along with its matching leads/probes.

    Electricity Inquiry Lab #2: Connecting Electric Circuits

    • Clear and easy to follow Circuit Task Cards.
    • Written instructions and schematic circuit diagrams guide students in constructing various series and parallel circuits.
    • Eighteen task cards in total; complexity of circuit design increases with each card.
    • Students will learn to connect circuit components and observe the effect of additional loads in series/parallel configurations.

    Additional equipment (not included) required for the successful completion of this lab:

    • 3-4 Batteries, 1.5V D Cell;
    • 3-4 Battery holders;
    • 4-7 Mini light bulbs, 1.5V;
    • 4-7 Mini light bulb holders;
    • 4-Switches, single pole single throw;
    • 1-Electric motor, small;
    • 1-Mini buzzer, 1.5V;
    • 1-Mini LED, 2.0V;
    • 15+ Connecting wires/test leads with alligator clamps.

    Electricity Inquiry Lab #3: Current & Voltage in Series & Parallel Circuits

    • Clear and easy to follow circuit labs designed to investigate current and voltage through series and parallel circuits.
    • Schematic diagrams guide students in constructing various series and parallel circuits. Students then attach voltmeters and ammeters to compare and contrast voltage and current through the different parts of each circuit. Space to record answers is provided.

    Additional equipment (not included) required for the successful completion of this lab:

    • 1 Battery, 1.5V D Cell;
    • 1 Battery holder;
    • 2 Mini light bulbs, 1.5V;
    • 2 Mini light bulb holders;
    • 10+ Connecting wires/test leads with alligator clamps;
    • 1- Ammeter and 1-Voltmeter (or 1- Multimeter) – along with their matching leads/probes.
