What educators are saying

My students loved learning about Joan Miro and had a fantastic time creating their own abstract cats! Thank you!

Description

This lesson introduces students to the Spanish artist, Joan Miro and his whimsical, abstract paintings. After viewing a colorful and informative PowerPoint presentation students will be given the opportunity to use what they have learned to create their own Miro inspired shape "people!"
This PowerPoint includes full color images of Miro's work along with text that explains the work and asks students to look closely at the paintings to identify types of shapes and lines that they see. The last five slides of the presentation gives you the actual lesson plan which includes step-by-step directions on how to introduce the presentation and then follow it up with the activity where students create their own shape "people." Also included are wrap-up / review questions and also group critique questions that can be used as a great way to end the lesson!
I hope that you enjoy this lesson! My students loved it and had great success with it and I'm sure that yours will too!
Best,
Kristin Irish
