What educators are saying

This was such a fun and engaging way for students to practice exponential growth and decay. Thank you!
Can't say enough about how much I love these escape rooms. They are wonderful and provide different kinds of problems for reviewing concepts. I am trying to load up on all of them today while they are on sale. LOVE THEM!

Description

An engaging algebra escape room activity for solving exponential growth and decay word problems. Students must unlock 5 locks by answering questions related to growth and decay graphs and word problems. Questions are grouped 4 per puzzle, resulting in five 4-letter codes that will unlock all 5 locks.

Topics include:

  • savings accounts accruing compound interest annually,
  • a ball's height decreasing as it bounces.
  • the value of a car depreciating over time.

Students are asked to find:

  • the values of the functions at given times,
  • the time (after initial deposit, bounce, car purchase) when the function's value is a given amount.

The entire activity is housed in one GOOGLE Form. There are no links to outside websites. The 4-letter codes are set with answer validation so that students cannot move to the next puzzle until they enter the correct code. Includes answer key.

To add the digital escape room to your Google Drive: please open the PDF and click the button on page 3.

A printable PDF version has also been added to the file. Students can work in groups, each group starting at a different puzzle. Once done, students check the NEXT STEP box for which puzzle to visit next.
