Description

This math template works great as a warm up, exit ticket or quick assessment for factoring quadratics.

As students enter your class, they grab a template as their warm up. On the board is a polynomial for them to write ono their template to factor. Students write the polynomial onto their template and complete the rest of the fields of their template.

There are 2 templates included: one works for trinomials where A=1 or is the GCF. The second template (not shown in preview or thumbnails) is a new addition and works for trinomials where A is not 1.

Use the structure of an expression to identify ways to rewrite it. For example, see 𝘹⁴ – 𝘺⁴ as (𝘹²)² – (𝘺²)², thus recognizing it as a difference of squares that can be factored as (𝘹² – 𝘺²)(𝘹² + 𝘺²).
Choose and produce an equivalent form of an expression to reveal and explain properties of the quantity represented by the expression.
Factor a quadratic expression to reveal the zeros of the function it defines.
