What educators are saying

I had to adapt my film studies curriculum and was looking for something that was organized and increased student engagement. I would highly recommend this resource.
THIS IS AMAZING! It helped to give me a starting place to teach my media studies class. The students loved the powerpoints and the discussions is lead to us having.

Description

New product supplements based on customer demand!

Since joining TPT as a paid store in November of 2017, I guess I never realized how many fellow teachers out there might actually be interested in teaching a high school film studies course. So as a TPT newcomer, I just kinda bundled a full semester's worth of curriculum presentations together as one giant $20 product and figured I'd be happy to sell one bundle (if any) for such a niche product.

BOY was I wrong.

To date, this little pet project that could has gone on to become my most popular and top-selling item, with some really nice feedback from teachers all across the country pouring in regularly via email, TPT, and comments to say just how happy they are with the resource.

Some samples:

"My county has recently given me the greenlight to develop a film study course. As I perused the internet, I found your amazing slideshows. They are very well put together and contain vast amounts of knowledge. By putting your presentations online, I know that you have already shared so much, but I was wondering if you would be willing to share a syllabus for the course or could point me towards a textbook that I could utilize when making my curriculum."

"I wondered if you had more notes on the activities in this unit. I love the unit, but I was thrown this film class two weeks ago to teach. Your unit is a lifesaver, but I am willing to purchase notes or additional teaching strategies for this class."

"Very Detailed and excellent source. This is my first time teaching this course, and this is very helpful."

"I am having fun teaching this unit, but do you happen to have an answer key to the final exam. Some of the questions are not included in the Prezis and I want to make sure I teach the terms to them. Thanks."

Thanks, gang. And I'll level with you: I didn't come onto TPT looking to get rich -- simply trying to share resources that have served me well (and took a good bit of time to put together). Looking back at my TPT sales, I *probably* should go back into my Film Studies Full Semester HS Course Curriculum Presentation Materials product and retroactively add all of this stuff to the original collection so I can justify moving the price up a bit. But the bottom line is that I truly believe that Film Studies is an outstanding "niche" course of study when properly designed, and so I'm not looking to scare off any potential buyers with a new and improved super-sized pricetag after adding even more stuff to the original product when so many teachers really seem to be enjoying as it is.

Compromise:

Instead of jacking up the original price to add new content to the presentations package and put a few extra bucks in my pocket (but risk turning potential teachers off from purchasing an AWESOME resource that's currently being offered at a what customers are consistently telling me has been a very fair price), I wanted to provide a supplement for those who are interested.

Here's what you'll get:

This pacing guide and lesson planning document offers you FOUR full semesters worth of daily planning advice, lesson objectives, specific prompt questions, homework ideas, and end-of-unit assessments. It was originally designed as as my daily notes to help worth through the massive Film Studies Full Semester HS Course Curriculum Presentation Materials presentations bundle, so I'm offering it now based on buyer feedback to help get this resource into the hands of teachers who might already be using the other product and looking for a bit more in the way of granular detail. At times random and unsorted. At others inspired an brilliant -- these are all of my planning notes, "deleted scenes," and curriculum supplements that didn't quite fit into the original product -- but could be super helpful for teachers who are looking for more day-to-day guidance as they bring a film studies curriculum to life in their school.

This spreadsheet workbook walks you through the step-by-step prompts, questions, and objectives to help you navigate the daily agenda of each day’s instruction for every course meeting throughout a full semester of instruction. That's between 75-90 individual days of instruction. Times four different variations of the same course over the years that I had the privilege of teaching it.

It likewise points you to specific scenes to use as examples in each of the films included in the Unit Slideshows, and it provides further prompts for in-class discussions, projects, activities, and homework ideas.

I’m especially proud to offer two full years (four different semesters) of how the course grew, changed, and evolved under my instructional development. Minor differences between the exact same lesson plan over four different semesters of course teaching likewise reflect several different ways that teachers might consider scaffolding, adjusting, or changing their instruction and the unit presentation materials in order to fit the unique needs of their classroom.

In short: it’s a great peek “behind the curtain” for how the course really came together. And for the cinefiles and film teachers out there: it's an outstanding companion to your presentation library!
