French reading comprehension for advancing beginners COMPRÉHENSION DE LECTURE

These 10 French reading passages are the perfect way to get your beginning French students reading. Great for Core French or immersion. Each passage includes 3 versions of the student question sheets. Cette ressource contient 10 compréhensions de lecture.

Foster a love of reading in your French class with easy-to-use French reading comprehension worksheets that were created just for beginning readers. Each text includes 3 different levels of questions, so you can easily use the same passage with different ability groups and grade levels. Students will love that these activities are just at their level, meaning that reading is less intimidating and a lot more fun! 

These questions are appropriate for beginning Core French students and French immersion classes who are ready to transition to slightly more challenging grammar and vocabulary. This packet contains more advanced concepts than my reading comprehension sets 1 and 2, however the reading passages are similar in length. Check the preview to assess the difficulty level and see if it meets your needs.

Use this set of reading activities to introduce or reinforce:

- the passé composé

- reflexive verbs in the present and passé composé

- health and wellness

- chores around the house

- the futur simple (basic recognition required for one reading- perfect for the end of French 2!)

Grade level will vary based on when students began studying French. See the preview to determine if the grade level is appropriate for your students.

Use these differentiated French reading activities with your different proficiency levels. Each reading passage includes:

• Short answer English questions and students can answer in English : These questions will be the easiest for true beginners.
• Short answer French questions : This has the same style of questions as the English, however, the questions are in French and students are directed to answer in French. These are best for your more-advanced learners.
• Multiple choice questions in French : Occasionally, students will locate specific information in the text. These are great for any level, as the questions are a bit different than the short answer versions.

You can choose all one version for a class, but I like to use different versions based on student levels so that differentiation is super-easy! You can always print 2 versions back-to-back and let students choose their own activity.
