Based on our biography rap song, these activities will keep your students' attention using song lyrics while they practice a variety of reading skills! Easily incorporate thems into independent activities or complete them together as a class lesson.

Students will listen to the song then use the song lyrics as a reading passage to complete the activities detailed below.

The song for these activities explores Kahlo's youth, her struggles with her health due to disease and accident, and her accomplishments as a world-renowned, Latin-American painter.

- the song lyrics for use as a reading passage

- TPT and YouTube links to listen to the song with subtitles for students

- 12 multiple-choice, comprehension questions with the answer key

- a character traits, graphic organizer writing activity

- 7 multiple-choice, context clues questions about content vocabulary from the song lyrics with the answer key

How to use this resource:

- Students will preview the comprehension questions on pages 1 and 2 then listen to the song while following along with the lyrics on pages 3 and 4.

- Next, students will answer the comprehension questions on pages 1 and 2.

- Next, students will infer the character traits of Frida Kahlo based on her actions and behavior presented in the song.

- Students will then complete the remaining activities that are outlined above.

- The answer keys are located on pages 13 - 18.
