Halloween monsters dichotomous keys worksheets and digital activities

Combine Halloween and classification science with these fun, monster dichotomous keys. These activities allow students to practice their observation and identification skills by following a key to name the mystery monsters, before writing a key of their own.

There are options for both print (worksheets) and digital (PowerPoint and Google Slides). A link to the digital Google Slides version is contained in the teacher notes.

You can see a full preview of the print version, excluding the answers pages. The digital version is the same but with editable text boxes for students to write their answers.

What's included?

• 'Use a key' activity. A version is included with 6 and 12 monsters to allow for differentiation. Please note, if using the print version, the monsters will need to be printed in color.
• 'Write a key' activity. You can choose an option with either 4 or 6 monsters. This activity is included in both black and white, and in color. The black and white version adds an extra challenge for students as they can't use color as an identifying feature when writing their couplets.
• Notes for students with tips on how to use and write a dichotomous key.
