What educators are saying

My students enjoyed working on this activity. It went well with the unit we were working on. There were no errors and it didn't take much time for me to assemble.

Description

Two complete lessons on identifying text structure in expository text. Included in this PDF file:

- two complete lesson plans (day 1 and day 2)

- Cheat sheet/note taking handout for day one discussion including examples of four kinds of expository text structure (compare/contrast, description, cause/effect, problem/solution)

- Text structure key word clues and text match handout activity

- independent activity - students must determine text structure of paragraph citing key words and justify their answer

- checklist/rubric to score independent activity

- answer key for text match

- duplicates of the handouts for a reteach lesson (I teach in multiple classrooms, so had to develop different handouts so I didn't duplicate the exact lesson to a small group of students)
