Instrument Petting Zoo Kit for Open Houses and Parent Teacher Conferences

This resource kit includes all the posters, activities, and resources you'd need to host an instrument petting zoo in your classroom. A "zoo map" helps students navigate through the room and the posters included in the kit give careful guidance on how to explore and play the instruments. There are critical thinking questions at each station as well as a variety of options for pitched and nonpitched instruments so that you can customize this resource to work in your classroom no matter what instruments you have at your disposal.

-Arrow signs and other posters to help direct people to your room.

Signs and descriptions for percussion stations
-Information about each group of instruments (metals, woods, scrapers/shakers, membranes, and pitched percussion)
-Exploratory activities at each station with critical thinking questions

A zoo “Map” so that students visit each station and have to answer questions about all the different kinds of instrument.

Three games to help students identify and classify instruments by their instrument families. These can be used in conjunction with the petting zoo or on their own.
