Description

Students use the Scientific Method to evaluate whether keyboarding or handwriting is faster. The lesson includes an Essential Question and Big Idea, average time required to complete, suggested appropriate grade level, suggested teacher preparation, and assessment strategies. During the lesson, students go through each step of this well-accepted analysis technique and then share their conclusions, resulting in a good understanding of the importance of touch typing (typing without looking at fingers) in their education journey. If you use this for several years, alternative experiments are suggested, such as whether typing on an iPad or a traditional keyboard is better.
