Description
I created this project in order for students to learn about the Lenape and to teach non-fiction reading strategies. The lap book is a great way to help students take notes and organize information that they learn along the way.
What's included:
Prezi – a link to an easy to use presentation that will display all project pieces. The presentation also contains links to internet resources, videos, and support instructions. Exit slips included for daily checks of student understanding. Please make sure you are using the CLASSIC mode for Prezi or it will not load. Lap Book - Use the cut out pieces to create a student lap book as you cover each part of the unit. The lap book is a fun and interactive way for students to take notes and present information they have learned about the tribe.
Each lap book piece has a corresponding reading passage and common core related reading response questions. Links to videos and other web resources are on the Prezi to further support note taking for each lap book task.
Reading Passages - 6 cross-curricular passages that connect to common core reading standards as well as give informational text about the Lenape. These passages will help students practice their nonfiction reading strategies as well as take notes.

Vocabulary: printable word cards to create a word wall while teaching this unit. Students have a vocabulary log to help support them with learning this content specific vocabulary.
Assessment - Test and study guide provided in order to show student understanding of the unit. 2 assessments are included, one is a modified version of the test. Assessments include multiple choice, short answer, and essay questions.
