What educators are saying

I have taught this unit before but this was a great change of pace. The video clips were terrific! I am a huge fan of this educator and creator!
This is a great no-prep product. I was able to download, print, and teach. The guided notes were very helpful. Students referred back to them throughout our unit.

Description

Help students identify logical fallacies with this 40-slide introductory lecture featuring definitions and modern examples relevant to their lives. Slides download as both Prezi and Google Slides versions.

Use the optional guided notesheet to help students who need note-taking structure or assistance. Finally, reinforce the lecture content with an application/assessment handout that can be used as a solo or team in-class activity or a traditional quiz. Answer keys to both handouts are included, of course. All student handouts are included in both printable PDF and Google Slides versions. Want supplemental video support? A collection of media clips that support this lesson are available here: https://laurarandazzo.com/logical-fallacies-football-battle-royale-commercials/

There are many fallacies used to sway an audience, but I’ve focused this lesson on 10 of the most common leaps in logic, including:

Hasty Generalization

Faulty Causality

Either/Or (False Dichotomy)

Slippery Slope

Bandwagon

Sentimental Appeal

Scare Tactics

Appeal to False Authority

Ad Hominem

Straw Man
