Long I iCe igh ie y Phonics Craft

Hands on phonics craft that helps students review Long I i_e, igh, ie, y! This supplemental phonics sorting activity provides great review and can be completed whole group or small group. It is appropriate for first or second grade students practicing this skill. Great practice with cutting and glue. Students look at the pictures to sort each of the long i pictures on the correct butterfly wing.

Great to use for phonics review to review spelling patterns.

Craft directions:

1) Cut out around the butterfly. Place glue only on the center part of the butterfly on the back and glue to another sheet of paper.

2) Fold on the white dotted lines.

3) Color and cut out each circle picture.

4) Look at each picture and glue them in the circle based on its long i spelling.

5) Color and cut out the butterfly face. Use a toilet paper roll to glue to the middle and glue the face on OR glue the face on the paper.

6) Cut out the ”I can..” and glue it to the bottom of the page!
