What educators are saying

Highly recommend. So helpful when it comes to metric and customary conversions which is a tricky topic for students.
This was perfect to go along with our unit over customary and metric units. Thanks for this resource!

Our interactive and engaging resources make learning about metric and customary measuring systems a fun and simplified experience for your students. With step-by-step lesson plans, hands-on activities (available in printable or digital format), learning centers, review activities, and a unit assessment, this resource is complete from top to bottom.

You'll have access to a teacher guide that provides all the support you need to teach the material with ease. Your students will love practicing measuring length, weight, and capacity in both systems and converting across units within each system.

TEACHERS USING THIS MEASUREMENT UNIT LOVE:

  • the step-by-step teacher guide that breaks each lesson down into an introduction, lesson activity, and closing - making the lessons easy to prepare for and deliver to your students.

  • Units of measurement for the customary system including units for length (in, ft, yd), weight (oz, lb, T), and capacity (c, pt, qt. gal.)
  • Creating conversion tables (ex. 12in,1ft ; 24in, 2ft...etc)
  • Solving word problems for both metric and customary systems

HOW IT WORKS:

  • Start your daily lessons with ease using our ready-to-go anchor slides. These slides will help you introduce and review important concepts quickly and efficiently.
  • After the introduction, students will have the opportunity to work independently or in small groups to practice new skills. Our engaging and varied activities include games, interactive digital activities, task cards, and more!

WHAT OTHER TEACHERS ARE SAYING...

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Out of the hundreds of dollars ( yes, I know lol) that I have spent on TPT this is by far the best money that I have spent. I love that each day is planned with slides, practice, task cards and a game! Measurement conversions is the one thing I dread teaching each year and because of this I am super excited! Thank you so much for your hard work and for sharing with us! I will certainly be a future shopper!" - Stacy B.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “Holy cannoli. I can't explain how much I DREAD teaching measurement conversions to my students. I decided to buy this product for teaching the unit this year and I am SO glad I did. Extremely limited amount of prep work, super clear, the student/teacher resource was so useful, and the strategies to teach were useful (why had I NEVER thought of using number lines before?!). Thank you so much for such a thoughtful product!” - 4th grade teacher

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “This is one of the best and most comprehensive units I have purchased in a very long time. It is not only easy to use for students, but the teacher guide is the best I have ever seen! The digital resources make teaching and sharing a breeze. Thank you for this product!!” - 4th grade teacher

Know relative sizes of measurement units within one system of units including km, m, cm; kg, g; lb, oz.; l, ml; hr, min, sec. Within a single system of measurement, express measurements in a larger unit in terms of a smaller unit. Record measurement equivalents in a two-column table. For example, know that 1 ft is 12 times as long as 1 in. Express the length of a 4 ft snake as 48 in. Generate a conversion table for feet and inches listing the number pairs (1, 12), (2, 24), (3, 36),...
Use the four operations to solve word problems involving distances, intervals of time, liquid volumes, masses of objects, and money, including problems involving simple fractions or decimals, and problems that require expressing measurements given in a larger unit in terms of a smaller unit. Represent measurement quantities using diagrams such as number line diagrams that feature a measurement scale.
Convert among different-sized standard measurement units within a given measurement system (e.g., convert 5 cm to 0.05 m), and use these conversions in solving multi-step, real world problems.
Recognize that in a multi-digit whole number, a digit in one place represents ten times what it represents in the place to its right. For example, recognize that 700 ÷ 70 = 10 by applying concepts of place value and division.
Recognize that in a multi-digit number, a digit in one place represents 10 times as much as it represents in the place to its right and 1/10 of what it represents in the place to its left.
