Within you will find a complete unit for teaching the fourth grade standards for measuring angles including:
    •pre-assessment
    •content vocabulary
    •daily warm-ups
    •exit tickets
•daily scripted teacher lessons with student activities
    •post assessment

Please check out the preview for a more detailed look at what is included.

    Standards included in this unit:
    ☆TEKS: 4.6C, 4.7C, 4.7D, 4.7E
    ☆CCSS: 4.G.A.1, 4.MD.C.6, 4.MD.C.7

While this unit is laid out over a six-day time span do not feel that you must rigidly stick to the timeline. As a teacher, you know what is best for your students, and should follow your gut, as some classes may require more time to reach an understanding of a concept.

To save on ink and decrease prep time, every page of this unit is created in black and white. To create a more colorful unit print or copy on color paper.

    Measuring Angles Stations
his set of 10 math stations all focus on the 4th grade standards for measuring angles. With 10 different centers to practice with your students will be experts in no time flat while playing these partner math games.

This measuring angles test prep bundle is a no frills all action product meant to cement students' knowledge with using a protractor to measure angles to prepare them for testing. All ten of the activities included were created entirely in black and white to save on colored ink, and make for easy use of the copy machine.

I use these activities in class and with my testing study group after school.

It was created with the following standards in mind:

    TEKS:
4.7c determine the approximate measures of angles in degrees to the nearest whole number using a protractor
4.7d draw an angle with a given measurement
4.7e determine the measure of an unknown angle formed by two non-overlapping adjacent angles given one or both angle measurements

    Common Core
CCSS.Math.Content.4.MD.C.6 Measure angles in whole-number degrees using a protractor. Sketch angles of specified measure.
CCSS.Math.Content.4.MD.C.7 Recognize angle measure as additive. When an angle is decomposed into non-overlapping parts, the angle measure of the whole is the sum of the angle measures of the parts. Solve addition and subtraction problems to find unknown angles on a diagram in read world and mathematical problems, e.g., but using an equations with a symbol for the unknown angle measure.

All of the activities included are designed to be used to fill in any gaps that students may have understanding the use of a protractor when measuring angles.

Each activity can be completed in a variety of settings to meet the needs of every learner in your classroom.

Recognize angles as geometric shapes that are formed wherever two rays share a common endpoint, and understand concepts of angle measurement:
An angle is measured with reference to a circle with its center at the common endpoint of the rays, by considering the fraction of the circular arc between the points where the two rays intersect the circle. An angle that turns through 1/360 of a circle is called a “one-degree angle,” and can be used to measure angles.
An angle that turns through 𝘯 one-degree angles is said to have an angle measure of 𝘯 degrees.
Measure angles in whole-number degrees using a protractor. Sketch angles of specified measure.
Recognize angle measure as additive. When an angle is decomposed into non-overlapping parts, the angle measure of the whole is the sum of the angle measures of the parts. Solve addition and subtraction problems to find unknown angles on a diagram in real world and mathematical problems, e.g., by using an equation with a symbol for the unknown angle measure.
