What educators are saying

Great resource to use when discussing Orange Shirt Day/Truth and Reconciliation. My classes were really engaged.

Description

Indigenous National Truth and Reconciliation Day

(FNMI) First Nations, Metis, Inuit Studies -

Orange Shirt Day is a great way to teach the significance of reconciliations between the Canadian Government and Residential school survivors to your students.

It is a time to acknowledge the abuse and cultural genocide suffered by the First Nations' children in residential schools.

This package includes a challenge, a definition of reconciliation, a primary appropriate summary or residential schools, video links, crafts, reading connection questions, read-aloud "When We Were Alone" with support work and Youtube hyperlink and more.

Ontario Educators recognize this day and hopes to see all schools wear their orange shirt in support of the First Nation Peoples.

ONTARIO: Orange Shirt Day, Truth and Reconciliation, Residential Schools, When We Were Alone, First Nations, Canadian History, Native Americans, Canadian Resources, Posters, Primary Division, Grades 1-3, Grade 1, Grade 2, Grade 3,

Thank you,

Cat
