My students loved this activity! We used the passport as a culmination of our immigration unit. Students got to experience what it was like going through Ellis Island.
Description
At the end of our immigration unit, we had a simulation of the journey through Ellis Island. The students created a character from a country of their choosing and pretended they were coming to America. The kids carried their baggage and passport with them as they traveled. As they visited the various inspection areas, they received a stamp on the back of their passport.
