What educators are saying

I used these pennants at the beginning of the year to introduce place value. The kids loved it because they were learning and being creative at the same time. They hung them up on the side of their desks and we had them out for open house.

Description

Determining the placement of a digit in a number

Translating standard form to written form

Translating written form to standard form

Translating standard form to expanded form

Also included are 3 open-ended pennants allowing you to give students a number in either standard, written or expanded form for them to translate into another form. These work great for warm ups or exit tickets!

Pennants include numbers into the hundred millions.

***Numbers in this activity do not include decimals. If you need a pennant for older kids, this Place Value Math Pennant Activity (with decimals) includes decimals.***

Once a pennant is complete, it can be hung along a string in your classroom to show the world that, "Hey, we know how to find place value!"

Included are 30 pennants + 3 open-ended pennants and an answer key. There are also plenty of places on each pennant for students to color and have fun. Each group of students can be given a set of pennants, scissors and either glue, tape or a stapler. Students can be in charge of cutting out the pennants. Groups can compete to see which group can complete the most pennants or your entire class can add pennants to one string as they complete each one. You may also choose to have your students color their pennants to add to your classroom décor.
