Probabilities of Normal Distribution, Z Scores Activity Project
- PDF
What educators are saying
Description
Students shade the area under the normal distribution curve and determine the probabilities for the given z-scores in this color by number activity. Their answers will determine what color they will need to use to color the provided image. This self-checking activity allows students to work independently to practice their understanding of using The Standard Table to determine probabilities of normal distributions.
The color by number activity can be assigned in a variety of ways.
1. Assign The Standard Table Color By Number worksheet, where the z-scores are provided to them
2. Assign The Standard Table Color By Number worksheet template, where students create their own problems by filling in the given template. Students choose a z-score for each problem, fill in the “color boxes” with the correct answer and one incorrect answer and pick a color for each possible answer. A different image for coloring is included.
Two templates are provided:
* A template for students to fill in with the problems and choices
* A template for students to fill in with the problems and choices, with area shaded, the correct answers circled, and the provided image colored in accurately (Answer Key).
3. Assign both, for a more comprehensive, thought-provoking assignment.
Included:
- The Standard Table Color by Number Activity
- The Standard Table Color by Number Template - Student Created Version
- The Standard Table Color by Number Template - Student Created Version Answer Key
- Simple Grading Rubric
- Answer Key
