What educators are saying

Reduce, reuse, recycle is actually a hard concept for 1st graders to understand because they keep confusing the three. This product really helped to break it down for them.

Description

Is it hard for your students to remember the difference between recycling, reducing, and reusing? These activities will give students lots of examples and opportunities to practice distinguishing between the words. Great for Earth Day or a science unit on taking care of the environment!

What's Included:

  • Vocabulary posters provide the definition of each term (reduce, reuse, recycle) two examples and pictures for each word. There are also two options of posters that include all three words on the same page. Print these in color and display them in your classroom!

  • Vocabulary graphic organizer with differentiated levels of support. Includes 3 columns: word, meaning, and example. Students can draw and/or write their example.

  • Reduce, Reuse, or Recycle worksheet where students write the correct word to match each scenario. This can be used for extra practice or as a check for understanding.

  • Sorting activity where students cut, sort, and glue examples of each term into the correct category. Picture support is included to help low readers and ESL students!

  • 6-page student book can be used for guided reading groups, independent practice, or homework. Your students can color in the black and white pictures and complete a reflection on the last page.

  • "Take Action: What can you do?" writing activity asks students to come up with ideas of how they can reduce, reuse, and recycle in their own life.

  • "A World without Resources" writing prompt asks students to imagine what our world would be like without any natural resources. Space is included for an illustration too.
