Is there room on the broom?

Make learning fun with this Halloween STEM activity in which students investigate the design of a broom! An excellent companion activity to the fall read aloud book Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson.

In this STEM Challenge, students design and build a broom to hold as much candy as possible.

Students plan, design, and execute their own ideas. After they have completed their activity, there is time for reflection on what worked and what didn't.

A writing extension is included for students to write a persuasive letter to the witch selling how their broom will help her carry more items.
