Resources Included
Students use STEM skills and creativity to compete with five sports-themed STEM challenges, including:
1. Archery: Design a bow that will launch an arrow as far as possible.
2. Basketball: Design a launcher to launch a ball into a cup reliably.
3. Sailing: Design a sailboat and record how long it takes to travel through the water.
4. Diving: Design a "diver" to make the biggest splash.
5. Parachuting: Design a parachute that will take the longest to land.
Options with and without math are included. Math skills include recording data, bar graphs, stem-and-leaf plots, rounding, metric conversion, and determining mean, median, and range for a data set.
Time Needed: 10 class periods for all 5 challenges (choose fewer challenges if you have less time)
Make flip books with everything students learned in science this year! 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade covers are included. This flipbook is easy to assemble and fun to create with students at the end of the year.
