    What are Daily News Segments?

Daily News Segments are short video clips (1-2 minutes typically) that are perfect for school news shows, morning meetings, or distance learning openings. They are absolutely NO PREP, ready-to-use videos that will engage your students and keep your mornings fresh and exciting.

Each day of the week has its own daily segment to keep students engaged. Daily segments are as follows:

Monday Mysteries (all 40+ videos complete)

Monday Mysteries is a video segment series that asks students to figure out which book character "stole" an object based on the object itself and four clues left behind.

Tuesday Travels (all 40 videos complete)

Tuesday Travels is a video segment series that asks students to figure out a destination based on a photograph and 4 clues.

Webcam Wednesday (all 40 videos complete)

Webcam Wednesday is a video segment series that introduces students to an animal each week by providing an interesting fact and then prompting them to view a webcam of the animal.

Thumbs Out Thursday (all 40 videos complete)

Thumbs Out Thursday is a video segment series that poses a question to students and gives them a series of 10 photograph responses. Students must give each photo a thumbs up or a thumbs down. This is a great, quick way for classmates to get to know each other better.

Fake News Friday (all 40 videos complete)

Fake News Friday is a video segment series that offers two statements - one real and one fake - on a topic and asks students to distinguish the true statement. This is a great way to show students that it is hard to distinguish between true and fake information at times, and may lead to further lessons about using multiple, reliable sources to gather information .

You may view each individual resource to see a sample video of each segment.
