Description
This solving equations flowchart walks students through solving equations with variables on both sides and solving equations with variables on one side. Through its simple line of questioning, my struggling students were solving equations within one class period.
This flowchart focuses students on the + and - signs in equations. Students first identify the = sign, then find which side of the equation has addition or subtraction. Students are then guided to identify the term on that side that is a like term to the term on the other side and eliminate it.
A video tutorial is linked inside the PDF along with a set of directions for enlarging the flowchart into a multi-page poster at home.
