Song! - Palabras de transición
- Google Slides™
Description
I’m a HUGE believer in using songs as a learning tool! Songs get stuck in our heads and we’re studying without realizing it. They also chunk information into contextual blocks, assisting again with retention. All of my songs go to commonly heard childhood tunes so that students already have some familiar connection.
This song focuses on transitional words. Transitional words are SO important to fluency in a language. This song includes many of the most basic and commonly used filler words in a fun and easily memorized song!
The audio link to the song is provided if teachers don’t feel comfortable singing alone. For this song, we start off slowly, and then get faster with each round. Feel free to start off slower or faster than where I do.
I also encourage students to use hand motions to accompany each word to help the words further be ingrained in their memories. For example, for “en- in” students pretend like their placing something “in” their pocket. For “en-at” they point to the palm of their hand as if it’s “at” a certain location, etc. I also included in a box in the upper right, a review of some other filler words/articles. They’re not in the song, but they’re worthy of a review. :)
Follow up practice:
* There are two practice slides that follow the song that help students to practice the vocabulary in context! First review the animated slides with them, and then allow them a chance to practice out loud with each other. Let me know your thoughts! :)
