Please note: I wanted to create a product inspired by the Wampanoag, in an attempt to highlight a living nation, commonly stereotyped and ethnically misunderstood.
In this book, "If You Give a Wampanoag a Wetu, " is my own attempt at honoring their tradition and celebration of "giving thanks." A tradition, that began much earlier than the Pilgrims. Without the Wampanoag, this harvest celebration we call "Thanksgiving" would never have been possible.
"If You Give a Wampanoag a Wetu" is designed for Prek, Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade, and inspired by the If You Give series by Laura Numeroff.
Students will love making this book, learning all about the Wampanoag, just in time for Thanksgiving!
Each book is 13 pages in length, including a cover page and a Wampanoag facts page. Students will love reading the book, filling in the blanks, and cutting and pasting the Wampanoag cutouts to make this fun book perfect for Thanksgiving.

Students can read this Wampanoag book individually, or as a class! This could be used in small group activity, in a literature center, or a social studies lesson on the Wampanoag Native Americans or for Thanksgiving!
