What educators are saying

My students really enjoyed this. I'm teaching a class on History through War, and my students were fully engaged in this and interested in learning. The maps were really helpful.
This was a great way to cover important topics at the end of the year before review for the final exam.

Description

The Persian Gulf War, Operation Desert Storm (Text, Maps & Questions)

Thank you for considering this fully editable product. Prepare to be surprised and delighted! This product contains fascinating informational text exploring the Persian Gulf War, also commonly called Operation Desert Storm. This product also has excellent maps (unique and original), quotes and pictures to aid in your students’ ability to learn about this epic war in American, world and Iraqi history. Please check out the preview.

The fully editable product explains the following: Iraq’s historical background; the rise of Hussein and the Ba’ath Party; Hussein’s (mis)rule of Iraq; the Iran-Iraq war; the invasion of Kuwait; the response from the United Nations; coalition-building from President George Bush and Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher; Operation Desert Shield and the ultimatum; the air war, including vital equipment like the Tomahawk cruise missile and F-117 Stealth Fighter; Coalition military leadership including Generals Schwarzkopf and Powell; the scud war; the devastating ground war, including vital equipment such as the M1A1 Abrams tank; the destruction of the Republican Guard and the “Highway of Death”; the destructive of Kuwaiti oil wells; President Bush’s acceptance of the cease-fire, and why; overall casualties; the war in the media and on TV; overall consequences of the war

Included are all the documents (Word and pdf) you need to print off for hard copy or deliver in an e-learning format. The color pictures look wonderful on a computer, but also print off well, even in black and white. This product would fit wonderfully into a blended learning plan or a close read lesson. The product is ideal for individual, or small group work. The product is also great for small-group or class discussion. You can also use this product as a supplement to a class lecture.

I have also created two original maps, which I believe are the best available to teach this topic. One map has a great visual depiction of the advance of Coalition forces once the ground war phase began.

12 great review questions are at the end of the reading and of course answer key is included.

If you enjoy this product, please leave a positive comment. Thank you!
