What educators are saying

Good way for my students to practice breaking apart CVC words. Students were engaged and happy to practice on this worksheet.
I did not use it as a whole class activity but as partner work. It was very interesting to see some of the words they used (ex. for a bear in a cave the word was den but they said nap, bear, cave etc.). Helped identify which spelling rules to review. All ability levels enjoyed it and were engaged.

Description

Do your students need practice writing CVC words after segmenting each word (isolating each sound)? This VALENTINE'S DAY HEART CVC WORD resource is a NO PREP engaging activity for students to complete independently, in a small group or as a whole class activity.

This seven page pack has 9 heart graphics on each page. There is a picture of a CVC word on each heart. There are 3 boxes (one box for each letter of the word) under each picture for students to write each word in after sounding out and stretching each word.

There is one page for each vowel (a, e, i, o, and u) and two pages with a combination of these five vowels. There are seven pages in all.

The PREVIEW shows all pages included in the resource.

There is a "Name that Picture" page that tells the word for each picture in case there is a question about the picture name. Keep the page handy when using all seven pages.

If students finish early, have them flip to the back of their paper and write a sentence with each word on the front. Students can also color the pictures after completing the page.

This makes a great morning work activity, homework, literacy center, or review for CVC words. Students love using their mini slinkies to stretch out the words.
