What educators are saying

I had them work in pairs and solve the expression and show me their work on a whiteboard before they could put their puzzle pieces together. It was a fun way to practice the skill of standard algorithm and decimals.
My 6th graders needed one more extra day of practice with the concept of multiplying decimals. We did this just a couple weeks before valentines day and it was just what they needed. We spent two days and created a little poster project with them!

Description

This resource is a valentine’s Day activity that involves multiplying decimals by decimals. There are 8 different cards- Students will cut, solve, then sort to match the problem up with the correct product.

There are also 5 editable versions included for those of you who want to make this activity, but are not multiplying decimals. You can add a text box using powerpoint to create your own problems. OR, you can simply fill them in by hand and make copies.

Here are the available editable options:

-Addition

-Subtraction

-Multiplication

-Division (both bar and symbol)

*You can see an example of these in the product photo.

We also used these puzzle pieces to make task cards. We printed 10 sets (all in different colors), laminated, and pre cut them. Then students can work with their partners or in centers to sort them. This is a great option if you want to be able to reuse them every year. We do both!
