Description
I'd start every year in our consumer math class with a "Wants vs. Needs" sorting activity to get my students thinking about what they really need, or don't need, to live. The discussions that came from the activity were priceless! The sorting activity and the discussions that resulted were a perfect start to our year building financial literacy.
In this digital drag and drop activity, students sort 30 digital slips into either "wants" or "needs" based on how they feel and what is important in their lives. Student answers will differ, which makes this activity a great way to spark discussion.
After sorting their slips, students then type explanations for why they sorted some of their slips where they did:
>I feel that ______________ is a want because:
>I feel that ______________ is a need because:
>______________ could be considered a want but is a need for me because:
>______________ could be considered a need but is a want for me because:
This activity was built in GOOGLE Slides. It is digital only.
