Word Problem of the Day - Five Month Bundle, August - December

Five months of math word problems to use as bell-ringers or for review!

Covering the months of August through December, there is one unique problem for every day. This resource can be used every year as the information is timeless.

Each problem contains a factual historical connection to the date. It is fun and interesting to learn these facts while practicing math skills at the same time.

Some of the skills that are included:

- basic computation

- equations and inequalities

- fractions

- percent

- ratios and proportion, unit rates

- graphing

- coordinate grid

- geometry

- unit conversions

- prime factorization and GCF

- time

- symmetry

- expanded form and scientific notation

The word problems were written with the CCSS for grades 4-6 as a guide. Many of the problems contain extraneous information and numbers that are not needed in solving the problem. Daily practice helps students improve their ability to identify the essential information and correctly set up the problem.

Every problem is given three ways:

1) in a sequential document

2) two per page for distribution of half sheets

3) individually for projection, complete with illustrations.

Each month's document includes a printable student answer sheet. Also included are answer keys which give the solution to each problem with "the work" shown. It also lists the skill(s) used in each solution as well as the general topic of the problem. Again, please see the preview.
