Description

This end of year reflection activity gets your students reflecting on their study skills, how they manage stress, and the ways they work effectively with other people. Using metacognition, your students write a letter to their past selves using a guided fill-in-the-blank template to help them reflect on themselves and their growth. It's a wonderful activity for promoting introspection and developing a growth mindset that sets your learners up for a lifetime of success.

Use this end of year write a letter to yourself reflection activity to help you learn more about your students. It can help you to see…

  • …whether your students’ reflections on themselves (being a student, managing stress, working with others) aligns with what you know to be true.
  • …how, if at all, students are connecting cause and effect.
  • …whether what your students have written sheds light on a type of learning preference that can help you to differentiate instruction.
  • …patterns of growth in the ways your students are describing their experiences growing up.

The worksheets in this write a letter to your past self activity inspires positive, transformative growth by showing your students how to develop their internal dialogue, eventually guiding them to formative behavioral changes that can transforms their lives. There are 4 pages of worksheets, with one page for instructions and the rest for writing.
