Description

Are you tired of students responding with vague, one-word topics when you ask them to write a theme of a poem, short story, play, or novel? If your students are anything like mine, they might have a hard time with this task without some direct instruction on theme. In this 30-minute (or up to an hour), no-prep mini-lesson, students will learn what a theme is, what it isn't, see tons of sample themes, and gradually work their way up to crafting their own theme. There is a ready-to-print notes page for the students to keep as a reference.
