Description

Great practice for sounds of /k/ -ck, -ke, -k at the end of a word. This resource is great for your balanced literacy classroom. Perfect for first or second grade students learning this tricky phonics concept. These resources are great for literacy centers, spelling, morning work and phonics practice! Anchor chart poster also included in black and white and color. Poster explains when to use k, ke, or ck in a word ending with examples.

This pack includes 15 student worksheets, 2 posters (1 black and white and 1 color), a partner game, 16 clip cards, 8 sentence puzzles and basketball word sorting activity.

The worksheet descriptions are:

1) Circle by Color - Circle the words that end with k, ck, and ke by code

2) Fill in, Write it, Draw it - Fill in the ending, Write the word, Draw the word (3 worksheets one for each _ke, _k, and _ck)

3) Read and Circle - Read the sentence and circle the _ke, _k, and _ck words by code.

4) Fill in the blank - Read the sentences and used the word bank to fill in the blanks

5) Fill in the blank - look at the picture and write the correct word on the line

6) Spin and Write - Use a paperclip and pencil to spin an ending then make a word

7) Create a Sentence - use 5 words from the word bank to create sentences

8) Cut and Paste - Read the word and cut and paste under its picture

9) Glue the correct sound by following the rule

Partner Game:

Put game counters on start. Roll the die to see who goes first. The player with the greatest number goes first.

Player 1 rolls the die. Then, moves that many spaces. The player reads the word on the space it landed and tells which ending the word has k, ck, or ke. For example, if a player landed on the word streak. The player would say ”streak. Streak ends with k.” If the player is wrong, they move back to where they were. The player to finish first wins!

Use cloths pins or paper clips to place on the correct word ending.

Word Sentences 8 Sentences

Read the sentences with /k/ word endings and match the sentence to the correct picture.

Basketball Word Sorting

Read each word and sort it onto the correct /k/ sound ending.
