TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've been teaching special education in ELA and math, K-8, for 14 years. Since I teach everything from the littlest learners to the middle schoolers, I am experienced in planning instruction for a wide range of curriculum. I'm currently teaching K-3rd, so most of my products are geared toward the primary grades.

MY TEACHING STYLE

As a special educator, I always start with the student and see what they know. I want to build on their knowledge, little by little, while making the instruction fun and memorable. I like to figure out ways to portray a concept in a totally different way than what they've been shown in the past. Sometimes, a lightbulb goes off. Those are my favorite moments!

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Only the hugs I get from my kids.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have a Bachelor's Degree in English and a Master's Degree in Special Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I am certified to teach from preK-12.
