TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Teaching elementary and middle school ART since 1995.

MY TEACHING STYLE

In my innovative classroom, the teaching style seamlessly integrates the principles of Discipline-Based Art Education (DBAE) and Project-Based Art Education (PBAE), creating a dynamic and holistic approach to art instruction. The curriculum is carefully structured to incorporate the foundational elements of art history, art criticism, aesthetics, and art production, as advocated by DBAE. Students delve into the rich tapestry of artistic traditions, learn to critically analyze works of art, and develop a profound understanding of the cultural and historical contexts that shape artistic expression. However, the learning experience doesn't stop there. The classroom comes alive with the vibrant energy of Project-Based Art Education, where students actively engage in hands-on, creative projects. These projects serve as platforms for applying and reinforcing the principles learned through DBAE, fostering experimentation, problem-solving, and self-expression. This dual approach cultivates a well-rounded artist who not only possesses a deep appreciation for the discipline of art but also thrives in an environment that encourages exploration, innovation, and the development of a personal artistic voice.
