Nonfiction Text Features - Introduction / Examples
An important part of learning to read nonfiction texts is being able to identify nonfiction features and to understand how they help you as a reader.
While using the smartboard to teach these features, I also use a student activity book. The activity book has an activity page to go along with each feature.

Angela's Airplane/Fantastic Flying Machines
This week long lesson bundle was created as a companion to the Reading A-Z book, Fantastic Flying Machines, and the read-aloud book, Angela's Airplane. It was used a a opening to the theme Taking Flight. The worksheets can be found on the Reading A-Z website, or created separately based on the skills addressed.
