After students have chosen the topic and conducted research for their Argument Essay, provide each with this prewriting handout - essay organizer and outline. The outline takes students through all 5 paragraphs of the essay and helps them organize their thoughts before drafting. Students will not have enough space to elaborate on every point they'll be making in their essay, but this is just a prewriting activity to help with organization...the elaboration will come later in their rough draft.
