This chart provides a way for students to organize their observations about the movie "A Cry in the Wild," which is often used as a companion to the novel Hatchet, by Gary Paulsen.
Rather than "just watching a movie," students will be able to analyze it effectively by comparing and contrasting it with the novel. As a graphic organizer, this chart heightens the students' attentive responses and improves their awareness of how Brian's story is presented through different media.
"A Cry in the Wild" is available online at amazon.com and other sources. [Notes about the film content: The movie is rated PG and contains some vulgarities and obscenities (more than in the novel) and includes two brief shots of Brian bathing in the lake, showing his bare body from the back.]
