TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Ten years teaching English-Language Arts, Reading, and Creative Writing at both a performing arts magnet school in Jacksonville and in the St. Johns County school district in North Florida.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Learning centers, collaborative learning, and gradual release

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

The privilege of getting to meet and teach those who will shape our future.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

One inspiring teacher changed my life by giving me a voice writing for our school newspaper. This led me to pursue a degree in mass communication, which in turn led to a career that spanned radio, television, magazine publishing, and corporate marketing and communications. After a brush with cancer, I knew it was time to complete the circle and use my God-given talents to inspire and help others to find their voices as well.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Teaching is my "encore" career after 20+ years of success as a writer and communicator in news, marketing and business. Writing and strong communication skills gave me many wonderful choices and experiences in my professional life, and I wanted to pass that on to another generation.
