My first five years of my teaching career were spent and enjoyed at an all-9th grade campus in a Title I district in southern Fort Worth. I taught English I and English I Pre-AP from 2016 to 2021. Then, I took a year to try teaching English 4 to seniors fully remotely from home--my students at Texas Virtual Academy, a K12 Stride Inc. full-virtual public school, are located all over the state of Texas. This year, I am teaching English II on-level to sophomores on a 2700-student campus in northern Fort Worth.
My teaching style is: relevant, humorous, and engaging.

I earned my Bachelor's in Secondary English Education from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, TX. Following graduation, I immediately completed my Master's in Literacy and Language Curriculum and Instruction, also from TCU.
My nickname at home is Blackbird. I am engaged to my amazing husband-to-be, called Bear--also a secondary ELAR teacher--whom I met writing curriculum during COVID (Can you say ROMANCE? Trust me, it should've been a Jane Austen novel). We currently live in the DFW area with our three cats and two guinea pigs, but I'm from New Orleans, LA originally.
