From a young age, I knew I wanted to be an educator. I have taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade gifted and creative writing, 6th grade English/Language Arts (reg-ed and ESOL), and 8th grade English/Language Arts (reg-ed and co-taught). Currently, I'm teaching English/Language Arts for gifted/advanced and reg-ed 7th graders.
Carder & Company stands 100% behind two main philosophies: Educators must teach to the entire child. Reading comprehension and application is paramount. Beyond the standards and curriculum, we want our students to be kind, able, and productive members of our community and society. Therefore, with every lesson, every unit, elements of kindness, compassion, understanding, conflict resolution, and/or learning from others is woven into the content. I believe discussion and working collectively are critical to student development; however, I also believe in independent learning, as well as (from time to time) lecture, whole group instruction. Be kind. Be respectful. Do your best. {it really is that simple}

Above all else, I am a wife and a mother. My husband and I are both educators. We have three wonderful children. If I'm not reading or working on content for my classroom, you can find me spending time with my family, decorating, spending time outdoors, watching a good action/spy/crime-thriller movie/series, or attempting (key word) to garden/grow flowers.
