I taught in a second grade bilingual classroom for 13 years prior to moving to 4th grade bilingual. I have been in 4th grade for 4 years. I have my ESL/Bilingual endorsement and I am currently working towards my Masters in Literacy with an emphasis on Bilingual Education.
I teach in a Spanish bilingual classroom where we use methods of one-way immersion dual language teaching. I provide my students a safe place to fail and because of that I feel that I expect great things from them. We always say that in our classroom, we do hard things... We use the word 'persevere' daily in our classroom and the kids know the definition: I push my kids to persevere and from that I see great things!
To be added....
I got Bachelors in Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish. I then went back to school and got my ESL/Bilingual Endorsement and I am currently working on my Masters in Literacy with an emphasis on Bilingual Education.
I love being a bilingual teacher -- that is where my heart truly is. I started creating my own products for my students because it was hard to find bilingual resources for my students. It wasn't right that they had to get English copies of things with the Spanish taped over the text. If you are a bilingual teacher I am sure you have had the same experiences! Gracieface came from my (now eleven-year-old) daughter's nickname. I was trying to think of a name of my store and saw her little face and that is how it came to be Gracieface Learning. I also have a teaching blog about my experiences in my bilingual classroom: Bitty Bilinguals.
