TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Most my classroom experience has been in 5th grade spending 1 full year in 4th grade as well. Recently, I took a position as a Math Resource Teacher and work with students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. I am currently in a Title 1 school which requires me to make activities for children that keep them engaged in classroom instruction. I have a clear vision for how the common core curriculum is vertically aligned and build resources that keep that in mind.

MY TEACHING STYLE

As my principal has said to me on many occasions, I am a "heads down, butts in the air" kind of teacher. What does that mean? I keep my students moving, working together, out of their seats, and engaged. They are learning when they are actively engaged in what they are doing. Activities have real world application and require additional rigor from students.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I was a division 1 collegiate athlete. I double majored and have a degree in Psychology and Family Studies. After college I worked in advertising for a lacrosse company. I worked events on weekends and tried to teach children any chance I could get. I decided to go back to school and get my masters in Elementary Education. After that I started teaching in 2009. I am certified to teach all subjects in grades 1-6 and math in grades 1-8. I was in the classroom for 5 years and recently took a math resource position. I feel I have finally found my passion and would love to share the resources I have been created for years!

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am married and mom to son Henry who is 15 months old.
