I have taught math in the middle grades (all grades: 6th, 7th & 8th) for 16 years. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Math. I have a Masters degree in education.
Students are being asked to think a LOT in my class. We do turn and talks, group work, work on vertical nonpermanent surfaces and partner work. I incorporate error analysis, put the problem in order by steps, and word problems that relate to student life. I also do continuous review so that students are familiar with problems before test time.
I was in the running for Teacher of the Year in 2022!
I grew up in Florida. I had a private school education until high school where I decided I would like to try public school. I really enjoyed it! I went to college and decided on a math major and education minor. Later, I earned my Master's degree in education. I stayed at home to raise 3 boys for a time period, then went back to teaching in 2017. I have enjoyed learning along the way and now I want to share some of my great resources.
When not teaching, I am watching my two boys play baseball. My oldest son is a great chef, so I am always trying out his new foods. My 3 boys enjoy math and try to challenge me with some of the problems they have in school. I am married to a high school principal that is funny, kind and is always up for an adventure. I also like to hike, go outdoors, read/learn new things, and play with our new golden doodle puppy.
