TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Over the course of the last 16 years, I have taught 3rd and 4th grade in a rural school outside of Buffalo, New York. Out of those years, I have co-taught with some amazing special education teachers, and had some of the best students I could ever ask for. I am extremely proud of my kiddos and everything they have accomplished. Most recently, I was hired as the principal of my elementary school! It has been a whirlwind, but it is absolutely amazing working with the best teachers, students, and families! Please check out and follow my Blog at, www.edtech101.org.

MY TEACHING STYLE

On a daily basis, you will find my class finding and discovering information, whether it be through researching or through small projects where students are investigating the material of a lesson. You will also find my kids listening to music. A couple of times a week, we listen to songs to discover meaning, analyze text, learn about metaphor, similes, theme and main idea. The kids love the music and so do I! Many of the products I have here include music and close reading these texts.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I have been asked to present at multiple technology conferences throughout the last few years. Multiple topics have been presented to teachers, including: Apple Classrooms, Teacher Web Sites, and Publishing Books in the Classroom, just to name a few.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I attended Buffalo State College for my Bachelor's Degree in Childhood Education, as well as receiving my Master's Degree in Educational Technology. Technology is a strong passion of mine and most of my lessons are rooted to technology in some way, helping to ensure that my students are ready for the technological world that awaits them. Most recently, I obtained my certificate for School-Based and District-Based leadership, which has led me to being an elementary school principal.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am a writer and some of my best lessons and units have been developed around stories; stories I have written for my kids. I have extreme joy in writing these stories and having the kids read them. This allows my kids to see the importance of writing, while also showing them what to strive for. Many of the lessons here will be based on those stories I have used within my classroom.
