By Mrs DeFusco's Classroom Early Childhood Education is my specialty, and I have been teaching pre-school since 2011! Over the years, I have worked as a First Grade teacher, and in various roles within Preschool. I currently work as the Early Childhood Special Educator, ECSE, in an inclusive classroom of 3 and 4 year olds. I hold an ECSE teaching license in addition to my certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). I am an accredited ACE provider through the BACB and I have been certified as a Master IEP Coach. Prior to getting into the classroom I taught soccer skills to children 15 months - 8 years and also taught gym classes for children 6 weeks to 12 years old for 2 years.
When developing the lessons and curriculum for my classroom I design my lessons to be hands on and interactive. My class room is center driven, and play-based. With my background in early childhood, I love to be creative and get the children involved in their environments. I believe that children learn best through doing, and that the more the interact with the world around them, the more well-rounded they will be. With all the fun we have, it can be hard for outsiders to see the learning, so clear objectives an goals must be stated, so data can be collected to prove progress and provide intervention and enrichment as necessary.

I currently hold an MA in Special Education, Applied Behavior Analysis, in addition to an MA in Early Childhood and Special Education, with a concentration on students with ASD. I also have a BA in Psychology, focusing on children, especially those with ASD/ADHD and behavioral disorders.
Hi, I'm Amy, and I have been teaching since 2011, and teaching in Colorado since 2015! I currently live in Denver Colorado, with my Husband, our two dogs, cat and hamster. We enjoy spending time outside exploring our beautiful state and finding new adventures.
