Penny Silzer

I have been a certified middle school math teacher for the last 12 years and have taught grades 6-8. I have been using SmartBoard lessons for the last 5 years.

I enjoy a variety of styles. Our district is big on Connected Math with students working with each other to understand big concepts. I do enjoy this style because it is less of me on stage. However, I also recognize the need for direct instruction. The lessons I post will not necessarily be complete units. However, they serve many purposes. The can be used as a whole class lesson on a topic, they can be used to assist students who were absent, and they can be used for those students who did not understand the topic during whole class instruction and need a review. The lessons are designed so that even a student can navigate through the lesson unassisted. In my own class, I often add voice narrtion to the lesson and save it as a video file. I then post these to my teacher website.
