TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Currently I teach 6th grade math, in the inclusion setting. I am the special education teacher. My students ALL receive free lunch and 15% of my students are homeless. Seventy five percent of my students speak a language other than English in the home. I love my job, I have to find a way to make the standard accessible (scaffold) while maintaining the rigor of the standard (rigor). It is a tough job, some days are really bad, most days are ok but the good days are out of this world.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Maintain the integrity of the standard, all students can learn. Step 1: Check the standard: What does the student need to be able to do? Step 2: Check the data: What needs to be taught to reach the standard? Step 3: Take a deep breath Step 4:Plan and teach Step 5: Evaluate and look for ways to improve

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I have won over $6,000 in grant money and I have won district level awards for teaching.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I was a lawyer and then became a teacher

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am married with a son.
